Official and Unofficial Belt/Skill Rank Structure


OFFICIAL RANK Awarded by a accredited Instructor.

(10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu / Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Rank) 

The ISOF belt and skill level structure is based on the traditional belt structure of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belts White - Black Belt awarded by an accredited instructor permitted to award such rank.

based on personal training experience.


For athletes who have unofficial and unranked training for extended periods of time, the ISOF has created specific classification for these Unranked Grapplers. 


Grappling Experience includes all forms of grappling training combined including arts such as Wrestling, Sambo, Judo, Japanese Jujitsu, Catchwrestling, Shooto, Dumog, or any other Grappling based arts. 



  • Unofficial White: under 1 year of experience 
  • Unofficial Gray: Under 18 months of experience 
  • Unofficial Yellow: 18 months - 3 years of experience 
  • Unofficial Orange: 3 - 5 years of experience 
  • Unofficial Green: 5+ years of experience 



  • Unofficial White Belt: 0 - 4 years of experience 
  • Unofficial Blue Belt: 4 - 7 years of experience 
  • Unofficial Purple Belt: 8 - 11 years experience 
  • Unofficial Brown Belt: 12 - 15 years experience 
  • Unofficial Black Belt: 16 years + experience
